Viewed from Suffolk border country this report is heavily reliant on the scorebook and therefore of necessity brief and sadly devoid of amusing anecdotal asides. However, I am certain that the midweek lads were determined to kick the opening match defeat dirt from their boots in this encounter with our oldest 20/20 opponents Remnants who won the toss and took first knock.

A 2nd wicket partnership of 84 was the backbone of the Remnants’ innings before achieving a reasonable total of 154 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the twentieth over. Our most successful bowlers were Josh Holmes 2/15 & Hugo White 2/36.

In response The Philanderers with an opening partnership of 66 were always ahead of the required scoring rate and after 16.3 overs a six from Nick Cox took the score to 159 for the loss of 4 wickets. The principle contributors were Tom Picton-Turbervill 45, Nick Cox 35no, guest Manish Berman 27 & Rob Gill 25.

A sound six wicket victory ensured that no dirt remained on anyone’s boots.
